Become a supervisor!

Lecturer

Any lecturer at Tallinn University who has an idea for a LIFE project can take on the role of a supervisor. To initiate an idea, it is necessary to establish an initial framework for the topic, either individually or with a co-supervisor/partner. To submit a new project, you need to log into the website using your Tallinn University account. After the submission deadline, the Academic Affairs Office will provide feedback on the submitted proposals and, if necessary, make suggestions regarding content improvements and/or the involvement of a co-supervisor or mentor. Once the revisions have been made, the opening of the project in the following semester will be confirmed. Throughout the process, you will be supported by the LIFE coordinator - please feel free to contact them at elu@tlu.ee

A strong project description includes:
· a clearly defined initial objective;
· an interdisciplinary topic that involves at least three different fields;
· a problem statement that allows for multiple solution approaches and requires students to generate new knowledge;
· at least one supervisor who is an expert in the proposed topic.

If the project topic or methodology requires ethics committee approval, it must be obtained before the project is opened.

You can find information about the project idea submission dates in the LIFE calendar - The deadline for the Autumn semester of the 2026/2027 academic year is May 10th. From then on, the deadline will be the last day of the midterm week.

The submission deadline for 2026 autumn semester is 10.05.

For more information, contact the ELU coordinator (elu@tlu.ee).

Partner

An external partner (entrepreneur, NGO, organization, etc.) can also act as a supervisor for a LIFE project. If you would like to share your initial idea with us, please first contact the coordinator at elu@tlu.ee so that we can create an account for you. To submit a more detailed project idea, you need to log in to the website. Additionally, the partner will need a mentor from Tallinn University to implement the project - the LIFE coordinator can assist in finding one.
Partners are not compensated for carrying out the project, but they can gain substantive benefits. It is the partner's responsibility to reach agreements with the students regarding intellectual property and, if necessary, to sign contracts.
