Gender in Tallinn University's teaching practices

This project explores what gender equality means in terms of a student's daily learning experience at Tallinn University. The project analyzes this issue from three perspectives: the student, the lecturer and the public space of the university. By mapping opportunities and difficulties in these three perspectives and bringing them together in a constructive dialogue, the project seeks to answer the question of what changes in the student's daily learning perspective should be made at Tallinn University to become a gender-sensitive university where all students and knowledge are seen as equal and valued. The project is carried out in cooperation with the TU Gender Studies Research Group and its implementation and publication of results are supported by Feministeerium.

The aim of the project

The main goal of the project is to map the way in which the topic of gender equality is reflected in the teaching practices of Tallinn University and in the students' daily learning experience. To achieve this goal, the project seeks to identify:

  1. What is the awareness of Tallinn University students about the issue of gender equality and how important do they consider it that the education offered to them be gender sensitive?
  2. to what extent and how do teachers apply their knowledge of gender equality in their teaching practice?
  3. how is the gender aspect reflected in the university's public space and what image of the university's gender sensitivity do these signs create?
