Üks Koorilaul Revisited: Documenting the Songs of XXVIII Laulupidu

This LIFE project combines interdisciplinary learning and collaboration to document and celebrate the songs of Estonia’s 2025 Song and Dance Celebration through narrative introductions and video recordings performed by the BFM Mixed Choir.

The aim of the project

1. Preserve Cultural Heritage:

Document the historical and cultural significance of choir songs from the 2025 Song and Dance Celebration, actually sung by TLU students.

2. Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

Integrate expertise from music, film, history, literature, and education students to produce high-quality outputs.

3. Promote Estonian Culture:

Disseminate the project outputs to a wider audience via online platforms and university events.

4. Enhance Skills:

Provide participants with experience in research, creative content production, and choir performance.

Projekti tulemused

As a result of coordinated efforts, so far, we have recorded 5 songs from this year’s Laulupidu, namely: 1) Koit, 2) Laulik, 3) Meelespea, 4) Mis need ohjad meida hoidvad, and 5) Mu isamaa on minu arm, which can be seen on YouTube.  We are planning to record videos of 7 more songs, as well as an interview with Raul Talmar.  We hope these videos help preserving and promoting the Estonian cultural heritage, as well as contributing to the school’s presence in the country.
